The Lončarić house, monument of urban architecture of the 19th Century
Tradition has it that the construction of the house began in 1821, which is testified by the inscription on the basement’s door vault, and supposedly it was completed in 1841, the year written on the second vault in the basement. The year 1841 is also written on the main entrance to the house, and tradition has it that it was written when the inn was opened in the house. On the other side of the road, opposite the house, in 1842 a long building was built (26m x 13 m) in whose lower part there were the stables. The passengers traveling along the Luisiana road could switch horses there or just rest them, while they would have refreshments in the inn. Above the stables there was a large space for the hay-barn, and the hay was thrown through the openings in the floor.
Half of the building was demolished in 1954 to build the access road to the parking lot and the gas station. Nowadays of the original building remains only half of it that hosts a bar and a shop
THE HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER PLANT
This is the first hydro-electric power plant in Gorski kotar. It was built in 1921, and put into operation in 1922, with which Skrad, as the first settlement in Gorski kotar, received electricity. The plant is still functioning, its power is 2x 0,8 MW, and it is considered as a monument of technical culture. Its reservoir is located inside a cave.
THE MONUMENT IN THE PARK - TUNNEL
The sculpture was made by Danijel Kovač and installed in 2003. Its symbolism, explains the author, is very simple, namely to arrive to Gorski Kotar along the way you have to pass through numerous tunnels.
